*I’m expected to create a short film that promotes a book, that

promotes a book to its core audience;

encourages people to buy it from the Unit website;

*it’s their first book – the emphasis should be on a book itself as something and interviews. As Adrian Shaughnessy explained it himself – branding is not the most important part – the main emphasis should be on the book and interviews.

*it’s also the first and the only book that offers emerging designers help and guidance in setting up a studio;

*it’s a book for graphic designers by graphic designers;

*the name of the book is “Studio Culture: the Secret Life of the Graphic Design Studio” , it lays bare the inner workings of 28 design studios around the world.

* the online version is a special edition version, available in a choice of 3 colours and is signed by the editors;

as a result I had a lot of different ideas about the stylistic and conceptual approaches I could take but need to narrow them down to the ones I could bring to life within the limited time period given:

> a 3D book with mixed media pop-up studios – every 2 pages representing a studio, the pop-ups: OR some buildings with some environment and then a studio inside with all the details and sounds, OR the interior and visual imagery and atmosphere of the studio in 3d on these 2 pages;

>a sequence of drawings / mixed media pictures illustrating excepts from the interviews, all the small episodes connected via small elements and transitions;

>a book-transformer – the book transforms into a house and then into various houses and create a city of studios around the world.
